Course Overview

IB Physics is taught as a unified course across SL and HL — the same core topics appear in both, with HL students covering additional material and greater mathematical depth within each topic. At Tangible Learning, sessions are structured around your school's teaching sequence rather than a fixed syllabus order. This means we work on what your class is currently studying, ensuring your school assessments, mock exams, and the final IB examination are all supported in parallel.

Internal Assessment (the Individual Investigation) is supported across all engagement durations — topic selection, experimental design, data analysis, and write-up structure. Students taking IB Physics HL often pair it with IB Math AA HL, while IB Physics SL pairs well with IB Math AI.

SL or HL — which applies to you?

IB Physics SL

  • 4 hours/week in school timetable
  • Papers 1, 2, and 3 (externally assessed)
  • Individual Investigation (internal assessment, 20%)
  • Core topics: Space, Time and Motion · The Particulate Nature of Matter · Wave Behaviour · Fields · Nuclear and Quantum Physics · The Relationship Between Energy Systems
  • Typical university outcome: prerequisite for science/engineering programs at some institutions; HL preferred for physics-heavy degrees

IB Physics HL

  • 6 hours/week in school timetable
  • Same papers as SL plus additional HL content in each topic
  • Individual Investigation (internal assessment, 20%)
  • All SL topics with additional mathematical depth plus HL extension material in each core topic
  • Typical university outcome: strong preparation for physics, engineering, medicine, and competitive STEM programs
Not sure which level your school has placed your child in? Check their timetable or subject guide — it will say SL or HL explicitly.

Internal Assessment (IA) Support

The Individual Investigation is worth 20% of the final grade and is supported across all engagements — from topic selection and research question framing to experimental design, data collection and analysis, uncertainty treatment, and the final write-up structure.

Who This Is For

This programme is for IB Diploma students taking Physics at either Standard Level or Higher Level who want more than exam drilling. Whether you're building conceptual understanding at SL, working through the additional mathematical depth of HL, aiming to maximise your score on Papers 1–3, or need guidance on your Individual Investigation, sessions are built around your specific level and your school's teaching sequence.

Students often combine physics with IB Maths — IB Physics HL pairs naturally with IB Math AA HL, while IB Physics SL pairs well with IB Math AI.

Ready to Master IB Physics?

Whether you're studying at SL or HL, our 1:1 tutoring is tailored to your level, your school's sequence, and your target score. Sessions support your school assessments, mock exams, and the final IB examination in parallel, with full Internal Assessment guidance throughout.

Frequently Asked Questions — IB Physics Tutoring

Do SL and HL students have separate sessions?

Yes. SL and HL sessions are always 1:1 and individually tailored — there is no mixed SL/HL group. The pace, depth, and topics covered reflect the student's specific level and school sequence.

Do you support the IB Physics Internal Assessment?

Yes, IA support is included across all engagements. This covers topic selection, research question framing, experimental design, data collection and analysis, uncertainty treatment, and the final write-up structure.

What time zones do you teach IB Physics in?

IB Physics sessions are available in the Singapore time zone (afternoon slots, 4:30–7:30 PM SGT) and the India time zone (evening slots, 5:30–8:00 PM IST). Contact us to confirm availability for your preferred slot.

My child's school teaches IB Physics in a different order than the standard syllabus. Can you follow their sequence?

Yes. Sessions follow your school's teaching order — we do not impose a fixed sequence. Share your school's unit plan at the start and sessions are structured around it.
